Webalizer

I have just installed webalizer on node.mu. I was waiting for google analytics to start accepting signups again, but I imagine that the waiting list might be very long. Webalizer is simple to install and suits my needs well enough. I’ll test-drive analytics in due time.

Just shoot me an email if you have an account on node.mu and want to have webstats.

Webalizer is very fast compared to Awstats for example. Google Analytics is a great tool and provides very strategic information: geo location map, conversion %, ROI, user loyalty, browser information (Flash version, Java)… I’m impatient to add more websites on Analytics.

Yup, Awstats is perl-driven I think, whereas webalizer is written in C? I don’t have that much resources on the virtual private server, plus I was already familiar with webalizer and wanted to install something quickly. I’m still waiting for my Analytics account.

I’ve been a Google Analytics user for quite some time, but somehow I found myself looking for a good alternative. Piwik looks like a good replacement to me :-)

@Christian: I’ve actually switched to Google Analytics since. Any reason why you’re looking to switch away from it?

I just had a quick look at Piwik. It looks good. Miles better than Webalizer. Thanks for the suggestion :-)

Didn’t realize I dug up such an old post :-)

Anyway I found that many of my users were using AdBlock which would also block Google Analytics depending on the blocklist they are using, so that my Piwik installation actually shows more users than Google Analytics.

Also it’s nice to control more of what’s going on with the data I collect, but that’s a whole other story :-)
